REVIEW:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A few years ago, I left myself go and need to change my life around. Now, I have never been to a real CrossFit box, but my friend introduced me to the sport in her garage and I fell in love with it. 5 years later and in my fitness journey, I am a life long fan.

Learning the CrossFit sport, of course you start learning the history and you get to know and recognize the top elite athletes. Brooke Wells was always an athlete that caught my eye and I would look for her when I watched events. I enjoy watching her compete. I look forward to watching the CrossFit Games every year, and 2021 was no different.

Saturday night of the CrossFit Games is always the most exciting. It’s always heavy lifts. This year, the event was one rep max on snatch. It’s Brooke’s turn. This is going to be a good lift. It all happened so fast.

I watched her injury live. OMG. My stomach dropped. I still remember the sick feeling I felt from seeing her on the floor In pain. It was so hard to watch.

“Resilient” was nothing and everything I was expecting. I was crying within the 1st pages and kept crying though out the duration of the book. I devoured Brooke’s story in 24 hours. I felt so many emotions throughout the whole book. Watching what happened in real time I think contributed to how emotional I got reading what was going though her mind during this time.

Brookes story is so vulnerable, so real. It was hard for me to contain my emotions. I was so captivated by her thoughts before, during and after her injury and how she is today. Her road to recovery is nothing short of amazing and inspiring. I had no idea that her recovery road looked the way it did and she does a phenomenal job walking us though everything she endure, every step of the way.

This memoir is so inspiring and motivating. I encourage everyone, regardless of if you’re a fan of CrossFit to read Brooke’s story. She is so raw with telling her story in her own words, it’s so beautifully written. A comeback story of one of my top favorite athletes is one you don’t want to miss out on.
