SYNOPSIS:

Guapo pobrecito her grandmother calls him. The “poor handsome man.”

Professor Jeremiah Post, the poor handsome man, is in fact standing in the way of Alejandra “Alex” Torres turning Loretta’s, her grandmother’s bar, into a viable business. The hot brainiac who sleeps in one of the upstairs tenant rooms already has all of her Mexican American family’s admiration; she won’t let him have the bar and building she needs to resurrect her career, too.

Alex blowing into town has rocked Jeremiah to his mild-mannered core, but the large, boisterous Torres clan is everything he never had. He doesn’t believe Alex has the best interest of her family, their community or the bar’s legacy in mind. To protect all three, he’ll stand up to the tough and tattooed bartender with whom he now shares a bedroom wall—and resist the insta-lust they both feel.

But when an old enemy threatens Loretta’s and the surrounding neighborhood, Alex and Jeremiah must combine forces. It will take her might and his mind to save the home they both desperately need.

REVIEW:
⭐⭐⭐⭐

Honestly, I went into this book completely blind. I didn't even read the back cover. The cover in itself looked amazingly interesting, so i decided to pick it up. And I'm so glad that I did!!

We meet Alex, the baddest bitch in bartending, returning home from Chicago after an incident at the bar went viral. With some family obligations needing her attention back home in Freedom, Kansas, we learn quickly that Alex sems like she has and IS a lot to handle.

She gets home and learns that she has a tenant neighbor where she was planning on staying in local college professor, Jeremaiah Post. He is new in town and has been staying in one of her grandmother's rooms that she has above her bar.

Dude, not even 10% in this book and we can see how Alex was a bad ass. The stranger hook up was not something that I expected so quickly, but it made me realized that I picked the right book! The spicy scene that takes place between her and Jeremiah unpredicted and low key, kind of hot, to say the least. The ending of that scene left me laughing. It was hilariously funny to me.

The sexual tension after that scene, throughout the rest of the book was a ride that I loved to be on.

Aside from the intriguing storyline that I truly enjoyed; I love learning about some of the history of Mexican American people from the MidWest. I am from the south, so this was all new to me. The Mexican American colonias and traqueros was something new for me and it really piqued my interest.

This was such a fun read for me. Alex had her flaws from being hurt in the past by her family, but she was such a smart, bad ass character whose had overcome so many obstacles and I really admired her. She really came through when her family needed her.

Small town racism in America is very real in a lot of parts throughout the country and this book explores a lot of that. Along with family dynamics and romance this is one book you don't want to miss out on. I really enjoyed my time on Milagro Street.
