The Wedding Party by Jasmine Guillory

by Books to Barbells Book Club, October 26, 2022

Synopsis:

Maddie and Theo have two things in common:

1. Alexa is their best friend

2. They hate each other

After an “Oops, we made a mistake” kiss, neither one can stop thinking about the other. With Alexa’s wedding rapidly approaching, Maddie and Theo both share bridal party responsibilities that require more interaction with each other than they’re comfortable with. Underneath the sharp barbs they toss at each other is a simmering attraction that won’t fade. It builds until they find themselves sneaking off together to release some tension when Alexa isn’t looking.

But as with any engagement with a nemesis, there are unspoken rules that must be abided by. First and foremost, don’t fall in love.

REVIEW

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I am absolutely in love with the world that Janine Guillory takes me to. The characters in these books are great and so well written.

This is the 3rd book in the “Wedding Date” series, which you can read in order or stand alones, and I fall even more in love with this world with each book.

“The Wedding Party” is Maddie and Theo’s book and it’s “Enemies to Lovers” with a twist. They each have the same best friend. That’s pretty much all they have in common and, other than hating each other’s guts.

Their mutual best friend, Alexa, begs Maddie to go to Theo’s birthday party and after some serious arm twisting, Maddie agrees to go.

What she didn’t see coming was her ending up booking up with Theo. And now neither one can stop thinking of each other.

What makes matters worse is they are both a part of Alexa’s bridal party and that requires them to be spending a lot of time together. I also love the fact that Alexa has a bridesMAN in her wedding party.

Ultimately, they are to a “friends with benefits” arrangement to alleviate their sexual tension they have, but absolutely nobody can know. Especially Alexa!!

And the big rule?

DO NOT DEVELOP FEELINGS!!!

I have had so much fun reading these books. Maddie and Theo are complex and complicated, but so well written and developed that made me absolutely love their love story in the end.

I feel like we all know a Maddie and Theo At one time or another and I love it.

This book doesn’t steer away from the steam, either. Their chemistry is hot and I love it so much. I always End up so happy after reading a Jasmine Guillory book and this one was no different.
