Copycat by Kimberla Lawson Roby

I quickly grabbed this book to read in the car while we drove for a day of shopping with my husband. I recently got this book from my 1st order from Book Outlet, which I recommend to everyone because they have the best discounted books. If you want to check it out and want a $10 off coupon off your first order of $25, click HERE. I paid $1.94 for it and for a quick 45 min road trip to the city, it was perfect.

MY RATING :
⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5

This was such an easy read. It follows the points of view of 2 women, Traci and Simone. Both women in their early 40's, they have a chance meeting at a local hair salon where they both had appointments. Traci had been a client for years. Simone, new to the area, was just trying the salon for the 1st time. Traci is a published author and Simone has dreams of having her romance novel published.

Simone approaches Traci in the salon and tells her that she is a big fan. Traci is very nice to Simone and they go along their appointments. After their encounter, Simone starts thinking...…."Maybe I should change my hair" She's always had short hair , but if she wanted to be respected as a author, she should start changing her look now. Oh, the Gucci bag that Traci had was so cute. Its something that I would have to. It was crazy all the similarities that Traci and her had.

Later that evening, she sent her a friend request on Facebook and a message asking her if she would be willing to help her to see what she needed to do to be a published author. Of course, Traci is willing to help because that's the kind of person she is and she has always wanted a author friend who lived in the same city as she did.

The more and more that Simone was around Traci, the more and more she was surprised that her and Traci had the exact same tastes. Except, is it really the same taste if you are completely changing everything about yourself, your home, and even your car? And even if it’s putting you thousands of dollars in debt?

Just like Traci, just like Traci........😳👀

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

This book really seemed to go nowhere. It wasn’t until Simone’s fiancé had had enough. Simone wouldn’t that him anything personal about herself and they were supposed to be getting married in a few months. She wouldn’t commit to joining his church that he has been a part of his whole life. She doesn’t want to commit to a living arrangement, even thought it makes more sense for her to move in with him since he owns his house and she rents her condo. And she doesn’t want to have joint bank accounts or tell him anything about her family. And you’re supposed to be getting married ?

So, other then months, Simone and Traci get really close and Simone is even getting her novel published. Traci is on a book tour for her 3rd book and her final stop is on her hometown. Of course all of her family attends. Her husband, her sister and Mom. Her sister never liked Simone. She was always pointing out that anytime Traci had something, Simone would get it too. Even got hair extensions in the same color and length as Traci. That’s very weird.

So, at the book signing, Simone gets very upset because Traci doesn’t acknowledge her at all. She only acknowledges her family.

The nerve of Traci!!!

But at the very end of the book signing, Traci tells all her followers to check out Simones new book. Oh. So, she does care about me after all.

Simone goes home after the signing to find her fiancé waiting for her. He’s waiting to confront her and give her an ultimatum. He wants her to commit to the little thing a before they get married or it’s over. Of course, Simone doesn’t want to, so it’s over. Oh, you’re going to be sorry, Simone.

Chris, Simone’s now EX fiancé calls Traci’s husband and wants to come over and talk. Before he makes it over, Simone has already called Traci and told her that her and Chris split up and now Simone is invited to Traci’s house.

Once they are both there, Chris tells Traci and her husband Tim all of Simone’s dirty laundry. He took pictures of all the things Simone has in her house. And guess what? It’s the exact replica to Traci’s house. How many people have a red leather sectional.

I mean, come on. I’ve been selling furniture for 12 years and In my 12 years, there’s been very few people who have wanted red like that.

Simone is a COPYCAT. And that’s not even the worst part. Simone is working on her 2nd novel. And guess what Chris discovered when he was finding everything else out? The “new” novel that Simone is going to submit is just Traci’s 1st novel, with a few names changed. She was going to plagiarize Traci’s novel and copy her ENTIRE life!!

That’s it. Simone has crossed the line. Traci can not have a friend like this. Traci cuts her off. Chris breaks up with her. She loses everything and is thousands of dollars in debts.

This book was a fun, easy book to read in my car ride and I really enjoyed it. I’d recommend it if you need something light to read. It was very cute.

Until next time .... ☮️
